READING DAY CELEBRATION

Kasturba Public School celebrated Reading Day with great enthusiasm on 19 June 2026 to promote the habit of reading and to honour the legacy of P.N. Panicker, the father of the Library Movement in Kerala. The programme was organized with the active participation of students and teachers.The celebration began with the lighting of the Akshara Deepam by Principal Dr. Shaji Alungal Joseph, symbolizing the light of knowledge and wisdom. The ceremony was followed by the inauguration of Pusthaka Peruma, a book exhibition, by Manager Pradeep Kumar Varma Sir. The exhibition showcased a wide variety of books from different genres and sources, providing students with an opportunity to explore and develop an interest in reading.The book exhibition was coordinated by librarians Ms. Praveena and Ms. Nithya, with the support of Ms. Reema Raj, Ms. Ajitha, and other staff members. Students including Advika, Dwithika, Aarushi, Anugraha, Anushka, Sahara, and Sreelakshmi played a vital role in arranging the exhibition and organizing various activities associated with the celebration.As part of the programme, students delivered speeches highlighting the importance of reading. Salva Fathima Sayid of Class 9 presented an English speech, Dakshina S. Dinesh delivered a Malayalam speech, and Bijayalakshmi of Class 11 presented a Hindi speech. Their speeches emphasized how reading enriches knowledge, improves language skills, and broadens one's perspective.The Reading Day celebration was a meaningful and inspiring event that encouraged students to cultivate a lifelong love for books and reading. Principal Dr. Shaji Alungal Joseph, teachers, and students participated wholeheartedly, making the programme a grand success.
