80TH INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION – 2026
The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great patriotic spirit and enthusiasm at Kasturba Public School, Chirakkal, Kannur, on Saturday, 15th August 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
The school campus was beautifully decorated in the colours of the Indian National Flag, creating a vibrant and patriotic atmosphere. The celebration began with the rendition of “Vande Mataram”, followed by the Flag Hoisting Ceremony. Students, teachers and staff members gathered together to pay tribute to the nation and the great freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for India's independence.
Following the flag hoisting, the gathering proudly sang the National Anthem. Dr. Shaji Alungal Joseph, the Principal of the school, addressed the gathering. In his inspiring Independence Day message, he highlighted the importance of freedom, unity, patriotism and the responsibilities of young citizens in building a strong and prosperous nation.
Mrs. Smitha V. K. from the Department of Social Sciences also delivered an inspiring speech on the significance of Independence Day. She spoke about the struggles and sacrifices of India's freedom fighters and encouraged the students to value the freedom they enjoy today and contribute positively to the progress of the country.
The celebration continued with a variety of colourful cultural programmes. Students presented melodious patriotic songs, creating a strong sense of national pride. A spectacular pyramid formation was also performed, displaying unity, discipline, courage and teamwork among the students.
The students further entertained the audience with a vibrant patriotic dance and an energetic aerobics dance. Each programme beautifully reflected the spirit of patriotism and love for the nation.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks. The celebration was a memorable occasion that filled the hearts of everyone with pride and patriotism. It reminded the students of the priceless sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and inspired them to uphold the values of unity, peace and national integrity.
The celebration was a grand success and truly honoured the nation's glorious legacy of freedom.
